Frank Wilson
Basketball (1958)  Football (1958)

Frank Wilson was a multi-sport standout at Lincoln High and the College of Puget Sound (Class of 1929). He is one of two CPS football players ever invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game. He played in the West’s 3-0 victory Dec. 27, 1930, identified in the program as being from the Olympic Club of San Franscisco. As noted in the Sacramento Union newspaper: “Wilson came to the San Francisco club from a little college in Tacoma, Wash., the college of Puget Sound. He is said to be one of the best blocking ends on the coast and a capable pass receiver. He stands six feet two, weighs 190 pounds and is 25 years old. Bay experts expect him to star against better known opponents.”

Wilson was a prominent enough athlete to join the elite San Francisco club for football and basketball, competing in two of the national Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball tournaments in Kansas City. A guard, Wilson was named to the 1929-30 All-AAU tournament team.

He was a standout on the baseball diamond as well. He is pictured here (back row, far right) with the Tacoma Foundation Co. club in 1918.
